It is about taking a leap of faith and trusting someone else, which is one of the scariest thing you can do.
What about when people say this? “I trust you.” How would you feel?
I trust you.
These are three simple words but have a huge impact when someone says it to you. It’s not easy to trust someone you barely know, and the least you can do is to do the same.
For me, I feel honoured, grateful and overwhelmed at the same time when my patient who is a stranger, someone I have never met, or not very close, utters these word to me. I also feel that I have a huge responsibility to fulfill their wish, be it in delivering their dream smile or easing their pain. Believe me when I say that as a dentist we aim to deliver patients’ request.
I feel happy that I have made my patients happy, because it’s true when people say the best feeling of happiness is when you’ve made somebody else’s day. I also feel grateful for my patients for trusting me to treat them. All the messages and gifts I have received made me want to work harder and be better as a dentist. I know there is a lot to learn, after all dentistry is all about skills and technologies. Learning can never stop.
As Steve Jobs said, “your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe great work. And the only way to do great work is to LOVE what we do.
These are some of the few smiles I created for my wonderful patients who trusted me to deliver their dream smile.
