Life Without Teeth – Dr. Ming Hoe
One of the many joys of life is the ability to enjoy the various delicacies around the world. We eat food to sustain ourselves. With food, we obtain the necessary macronutrients like carbohydrates which are essential for energy, proteins as building blocks, and fats for production of essential hormones. Science also shows that certain food can make us happy.
Whether you cook your own food or eat out or have it delivered to you, having the ability to eat is more important. We all know that we need our teeth to eat and chew food. However, have you really sat down and imagined what it would be like without teeth?
Since you are reading this, let’s take you through a 3-meal day recommended by a dietitian.
- Cereal soaked in milk until soft or oatmeal with fresh milk
- Scrambled eggs
- Pure fruit juice
- Minced/pureed chicken/pork/beef
- Mashed well-cooked carrots
- Mashed baked beans in tomato sauce
- Mashed potato with cheese
- Soft steamed fish fillets
- Mashed well-cooked broccoli without stalk

As an effort to improve nutrition for people who do not have teeth, I have requested the dietitian to devise the plan to be as interesting, as comprehensive and as tasty as possible. Personally, it sound acceptable for the time being, but imagine having soft food everyday!
Have you guys ever had days where you crave munching on a steak from your favourite restaurant?
I have, always!
Point is, all you need to do is to have your teeth checked and cleaned professionally every 3-6 months by a dentist. Early decay and problems can be detected! What if you already do not have teeth? Fear not, because our dentists have options that will suit your needs. So don’t be shy, speak to us! 🙂
So, when was the last time you visited a dentist?
Now is a good time!
